Recall Of Implicated Rockmelons On 2 March

Posted on 6th Mar 2018 @ 8:17 AM

05 March 2018

Dear Shoppers,

AVA has issued a recall on two consignments of implicated Australia Rockmelons sold in the market between 12th February and 2nd March 2018 which have been linked to an outbreak of human listeriosis in Australia.

If you have purchased a large Rockmelon (about 2kg each retailed at $6.99-$7.99/pc) from any of our Sheng Siong Supermarket stores during the affected period, please do not consume the product and dispose it immediately, or return the product to any of our stores for a full refund. For those who may have consumed these Rockmelons, please seek medical advice immediately if you do not feel well.

As soon as we learn about the outbreak in Australia, as a matter of safety and precaution, we have in the first instance voluntarily removed all Australian Rockmelons from our shelves regardless of their growing origin in Australia on 2nd March 2018, and replaced the melons with a batch of smaller Rockmelons (about 1kg each retailed at $2.65 - $3.99/pc) sourced from Western Australia. As such, we will not be able to provide refund or exchange for the smaller Rockmelons. These smaller Rockmelons are not from the implicated source, and are assured by our suppliers to be safe. AVA has also confirmed that these Rockmelons are not implicated in the recall.
