Clarification on Circulation of a Facebook Post

Dear Customers and Members of the Public,

We have received your queries regarding a Facebook post (as seen below), which claimed that our staff at one of our stores handled pork on a chopping board meant for seafood.

This post appeared three years ago. At that point in time, we had clarified that there was no evidence of such occurrence and the incident did not take place at Sheng Siong Supermarket.

Singapore is a multicultural society which respects and embraces different races and religion. As a home-grown company in Singapore, we embody these values which lay the foundation of our nation. For the past 30 years in business, we have always handled these issues with great care and sensitivity.

As such, our company’s policy is that our staff in the pork department can only carry out their duties within the department’s parameters. They are also strictly prohibited from entering any section, including seafood department.

We are thankful that you have come forward to share your concerns, giving us the opportunity to clarify. If you notice our staff committing misconduct at our supermarket premises or in public, please assist us by taking a picture or video and sending it to us. This will allow us to look into the matter thoroughly and guide our staff to serve you better.
